He literally manifested his way into breaking Dr. King’s record.
Joshua Suddith, an academic prodigy from Georgia, got more than a cake for his 13th birthday. He received an acceptance letter from Morehouse College, his dream school since age 4.
According to Black Enterprise, his mom, Chaundra, always knew he was destined for greatness. Despite complications during her pregnancy, including an in-utero surgery, Joshua entered the world with fierce determination.
By 9 months, he was holding proper conversations. By 18 months, he was reading. And by 3 years old, Joshua had already authored his first book.
“His grit and determination are the most impressive things about him,” his mom Chaundra told 11 Alive. “He didn’t let challenges get in the way of his dream.”

The Georgia native was a scholastic phenom passionate about learning far beyond his years. He skipped numerous grades throughout his education journey, with his biggest jump being from the 7th grade to the 11th.
Then, at just 12 years old, Joshua received over 20 college acceptance letters from renowned institutions such as Jackson State University, Miles College, Shaw University, and Tennessee State University.
In addition to his acceptance to Morehouse College, Joshua is awaiting decisions from Harvard, MIT, Princeton, and Yale. However, his heart is with Morehouse, the school where he learned Dr. Martin Luther King attended at just 15 years old.
With that inspiration in mind, Joshua set a goal to break Dr. King’s record, and now, he’s creating his own legacy at the iconic HBCU.
“I am driven by a passion for learning and making a positive impact in the world,” the teen shared in a press statement.

Currently, Joshua is taking courses at Augusta Technical College, where he boasts a 3.88 GPA while also balancing high school studies.
He’s already completed 27 college credit hours and plans to defer his Morehouse admission for one more year so he can officially graduate from high school.
As for his major? Joshua plans to study International Relations so he can foster change on a global scale.
His incredible achievements have already garnered support from Morehouse alumni, The Black Man Can Inc., and CBCA/Robert Mason.
And while he’s earned a merit scholarship to Hills Academy, his family is still praying for additional scholarships and full-ride offers to ensure he can pursue his dreams without financial stress.
“As my namesake, Joshua truly makes me proud,” his father, Joshua Suddith, shared. “I pray he always keeps God first.”
Congratulations, Joshua!
