Here Are 5 Products Great For Creating Sleek and Sexy Looks With Type 4 Hair

My favorite thing about being natural is hands down the versatility. I can rock my fro and the next day have a simple and casual braid bun. I can even dye my hair pink and have a cute twist out if I wanted to! The options are really limitless, but my favorite looks are always the super sleek and sexy hairstyles, the ones I can imagine adult actresses from sites like wearing every day while absolutely slaying it.

Finger waves, sleek ponytails, or straight bobs with slayed edges are just some the looks I enjoy. However, they can be particularly difficult to achieve with my type 4 hair. Luckily for me, there are tons of products out there that’ll help me achieve any looks (and for cheap, too!).

Below are 5 (awesome) products great for creating sleek and sexy looks with type 4 hair!

Irresistible Me Diamond Hair Straightener

With crushed diamonds coating the top layer of the two ceramic plates, this flat iron is both luxurious and effective. It can get up to 450F is 15 seconds flat, the diamonds are mixed in with tourmaline so the natural color and luster of your hair is protected, and can straighten your hair without crushing and crimping strands between the plates.

The best part? It is able to straighten your section of hair perfectly in just one pass of the iron! For the best results, make sure your hair has already been detangled and blown out.

Eden Bodyworks Coconut Shea Edge Glaze

Find a good edge control is really difficult to do unless it’s a maximum hold gel. This coconut shea ‘edge glaze’ from Eden Bodyworks, however, is really light weight with a strong, non-greasy hold, and no build up. Packed with water, Aloe Vera juice, Shea Butter, and Coconut oil, it moisturizes and conditions your hair all while keeping your edges together.

Just dampen and brush your edges before applying the edge control, and your edges should remain slicked down and styled for the remainder of the day!

OGX Split Ends Mender, Nourishing Coconut Milk

Blended with water, coconut milk, coconut oil, silk and amino proteins, this sulfate-free product will help you mend any split ends and reduce frizz right when they start to appear. It would be best to use after a fresh wash and right before you style your hair in a sleek style that leaves your ends exposed like straight hair or a ponytail.

Take a small amount and rub it through your hair right before you moisturize or oil your scalp and hair. You can let it dry in your hair or style immediately! The smell isn’t strong and the consistency is light enough for you to use a little more than a dime sized if needed.

Deepthi Organics Organic Verdana Leave-In Conditioning Serum

This 100% vegan and non-GMO Argan, Jojoba, Coconut, and Pracaxi oil blend is perfect for conditioning your hair and added a beautiful and natural luster to the top minus any greasiness or build up. It won’t weigh down hair, make it stringy, and it will definitely not cause your hair to revert back to curls if slicked down or straightened.

All of the ingredients benefit hair health in one way or another, as well. For an example, Jojoba oil keeps the scalp healthy by clearing up pore blockage; while Argan oil treats split ends and conditions hair–making it soft and shiny.

Gorilla Snot +Grapeseed Oil

The yellow bottle of Gorilla Snot hair gel has become almost a holy grail product to all type 4 ladies who have had difficulties keeping their edges laid down all day. The formula is sticky and strong enough to hold even the kinkiest and curliest hair strands together all day.

It’s an amazing product, but like any other gel, it can make your hair look a little dull after it has completely dried. Because of this, it would be smart to mix a little oil in the gel before applying it. My oil of choice is grapeseed. Grapeseed is lightweight, adds a nice luster, mostly hypoallergenic, and contains vitamin E which promotes hair growth.

Mix these two together and your sleek and sexy style won’t only be neat with a healthy shine, but also benefiting your overall hair health.
