We are praying for a 9 yr old Ezra Blount who attended the tragic Astroworld Festival with his father last weekend.
His grandfather explained to ABC Houston that the child was sitting on his father’s shoulders during the event and unfortunately his dad was overcome, passed out, and fell.
Ezra fell in the crowd and was trampled very badly.
Initially, the boy was taken to a hospital as a John Doe, separated from his father. Family members desperately tried to find him, only to discover that Ezra suffered major organ damage and was in a coma.
Relatives tell ABC13 Ezra has severe brain swelling as well. They’re clinging to hope and praying for his recovery.
In the meantime, they’re asking for someone to take accountability.
“How could this happen in the city of Houston? You know, when we go to concerts and different events we expect safety and security,” Ezra’s grandfather wants to know.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family with expenses.
Praying for Ezra.
UPDATE!
The family of young Ezra have retained lawyer Ben Crump to represent them in a new lawsuit. TMZ is reporting exclusively that the lawsuit, filed by renowned civil rights attorney Ben Crump, states Ezra was “suddenly forced to watch in terror as several concertgoers were injured and killed” during the crowd surge.
In docs, obtained by TMZ, Crump says Ezra was “kicked, stepped on, and trampled” as people around him were lifting up “unconscious bodies of friends and strangers and surfed them over the top of the crowd, hoping to send them to safety.”
The suit vividly describes many of the images we’ve seen in videos from the ill-fated concert, adding that many people were shouting for “help with CPR and pleading” with Travis and concert organizers to stop the concert.
According to the suit, Ezra remains in a medically induced coma and on life support after suffering severe damage to his liver, kidney and brain … and the injuries will impair his quality of life and “ability to grow and thrive.”
The lawsuit lays blame for Ezra’s injuries squarely on Travis, Live Nation and several other entities … saying they “egregiously failed in their duty to protect the health, safety and lives” of all concertgoers. Specifically, Crump says they didn’t have enough security to implement crowd control measures and emergency medical support.
Crump tells TMZ … the main culprits in the Astroworld fiasco are Live Nation and the concert promoters and organizers. The suit accuses them of gross negligence which directly caused Ezra’s injuries and “indescribable emotional pain and mental anguish. Ezra and his father are seeking general damages, as well as exemplary damages.
