The manhunt is over: Antoine Massey, one of the fugitives from New Orleans’ dramatic May 16 jail escape, was arrested Friday afternoon six weeks to the day after the breakout according to CBS.
Massey, 33, was found at a residence in the Hollygrove neighborhood, surrendering peacefully to authorities after a tip through CrimeStoppers triggered the raid.
Several law enforcement agencies the U.S. Marshals, Louisiana State Police, and local police joined forces to bring this chapter to a close.
He had remained silent until he resurfaced on social media on June 5, posting a video claiming he was “let out” of jail and insisting on his innocence, even reaching out to public figures like Donald Trump and Kim Kardashian for help.
Massey was the ninth of the ten escapees to be captured; only Derrick Groves a convicted killer remains at large.
Louisiana law enforcement continues offering a $50,000 reward for any information leading to Groves’ capture.
