Angela Reese is not happy with her WNBA cheques.
During an Instagram Live session on Tuesday (October 15), the star athlete, who generates other income streams with her podcast and multiple brand deals, went into how her day job doesn’t cover her bills.
While Reese is among the most popular stars in the league, she explained that her $74,000 WNBA salary isn’t enough to fund her lifestyle.
“Hating pays them bills, baby. I just hope you know the WNBA don’t pay my bills at all,” Reese shared.
“I don’t even think that pays one of my bills. Literally, I’m trying to think of my rent for where I stay at. Let me do the math real quick. I don’t even know my [WNBA] salary. $74,000?”
After her off-camera friend crunched some numbers and confirmed Reese’s salary couldn’t cover her $8,000 rent, the Chicago Sky forward jokingly exclaimed, “Yo! I’m living beyond my means! Sike.”
Angel Reese says that she pays $8,000 a month in rent, totaling $96,000 a year and her yearly WNBA salary of $74,000 isn’t enough to cover her bills ????

“Babe, if y’all thought… That WNBA check don’t pay a thing. Did that even pay my car note?… I wouldn’t even be able to eat a sandwich with that. I wouldn’t even be able to eat. I wouldn’t be able to live,” she went on.
“Especially in a city like Chicago or New York,” her friend added. “And you make the same amount of money if you live in Chicago or New York than if you live in Minnesota.”
“Crazy. Crazy,” Reese mused. “We’re gonna make more money, though.”
As reported by Spotrac in April, Reese signed a four-year, $324,383 contract with the Chicago Sky through 2027. The LSU alum earned $73,439 for her first year and will receive $74,909 for the 2025 season.
Reese is set to earn $82,399 in 2026 and $93,636 in 2027. This is in addition to 20 endorsement deals with an NIL value of $1.8 million.

Angel Reese’s situation shows the financial struggles many athletes face. It’s concerning that her WNBA salary isn’t enough to cover her high living costs.

8k a month is living beyond your means. Also as WNBA star, she needs to do more outside her contract, get sponsors and find other avenues.
Sorry but no one watching WNBA. It is what it is.

Angel Reese rookie contract is 4 years $324,000. Someone who has that amount of stardom doesn’t correlate with that level of remuneration
That’s why she is “everywhere”. She is a star and underpaid. She should be everywhere
