Halle Bailey is back with her second solo track of 2024, delivering the heartfelt “Because I Love You,” a song she co-wrote with RAYE. In this release, the 24-year-old singer ushers in a new chapter, embracing more mature themes and lyrical content.
According to VIBE the accompanying music video, starring Bailey herself, features RJ Cyler and is directed by Allie Avital. In the visual, Halle portrays a woman who confronts her unfaithful partner, also played by Cyler. The twist comes as she portrays not only the betrayed lover but also the alluring performer who tempts him.
As the story unfolds, the video showcases Halle dramatically leaping onto the hood of his car during a romantic outing, ultimately confronting him with several versions of herself, adding to the tension and intrigue.
“‘Because I Love You’ is a song for anyone who has ever been deeply in love,” relays the mother of one in a press statement. “It’s an anthem that tells the story of all of the beautiful passion and euphoria you can feel with that person. The video dives deeper into how vulnerable it makes you feel. I hope people enjoy listening and thinking of the person they love the most.”
“Because I Love You” was teased in April on Instagram Live alongside a few other new, yet-to-be-released songs. As the winner of a fan-voted poll requesting the DemJointz-produced track as her next drop, it follows “In Your Hands” released earlier this year.
Halle Bailey made her solo debut with last year’s “Angel” which was nominated at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards for Best R&B Song. Most recently, she was featured on the song “Want Me” from her sister Chlöe’s sophomore project, Trouble In Paradise.
