Tina Knowles is finally telling her story, and Beyoncé has just one request.
The music powerhouse took to her official Instagram to share the cover of her mom’s book, Matriarch, which features a painted portrait of Knowles.
“Mama, I couldn’t be prouder. My love for you goes beyond what I can say,” Beyoncé wrote. “You put your heart into this book. I’m happy for you to share some of the stories that shaped you into who you are. To know you is to love you. But please don’t spill too much Mama Tea.”
Knowles responded to her daughter with a simple, “I love my babies.”
Former Destiny’s Child member and Knowles’ “bonus daughter” Kelly Rowland also shared her excitement for the memoir in an Instagram where she wrote:
“MA!!! I am so excited for you! You have worked so hard on ‘Matriarch and A Memoir’, and I can’t wait till everyone gets their hands on it! They will be inspired, they will connect, they will laugh, they will def shed some tears, and bond with you over the intimate details you have shared! I’m so proud of you!”

Matriarch: A Memoir is set for release on April 22, 2025, and will detail the fashion designer’s life from her Creole roots in Louisiana to her upbringing in Galveston, Texas.
It will also dive into the 70-year-old’s marriage to Mathew Knowles and their move to Houston, where she raised Beyoncé and Solange and became a mother figure to many others.
“I’m thrilled to announce that my memoir, MATRIARCH, will be publishing this April, and I’m excited to share its cover with you now,” the Glamour Woman Of The Year revealed on Instagram Tuesday.
Knowles also explained why she finally decided to author the book.
“I have always been a storyteller, and it’s something I learned from my mother. When I had a family of my own, I believed that my daughters needed to know where they came from in order to know where they were going. I’m now ready to share my story with all of you so that we can all celebrate these themes of strength, motherhood, Black pride, and identity,” she continued.
“I am calling this book MATRIARCH because what inspires me is the wisdom that women pass on to each other, generation to generation—and the inner wisdom we long to uncover in ourselves. Even at 70 I am still learning valuable lessons—revelations that I wish that I would have had at 40 or even 20. I want to share this knowledge now, one to one with the reader, as we laugh and sometimes cry together through all the stages of our lives.”

Earlier this year, Tina Knowles opened up about Beyoncé’s meteoric rise to fame, sharing that she viewed it as her “mission” to protect her daughter during those early years in the spotlight.
“The industry can chew you up and spit you out. And I was determined that there were not going to be certain elements around them and that they weren’t going to get eaten up by that,” she said in an interview with Glamour.
“It just became my mission. Those are your kids, and you want to protect them and they need protection. Trust me, they need it.”
