The diva is contesting the eye-watering sum of $2.7 million in unpaid taxes and penalties from 2018 and 2019.
Beyonce Is Not Paying The IRS Without A Fight
According to Complex, the singer owes over $800,000 for 2018 and $1.4 million for 2019, plus an additional $450,000 in penalties.
But Queen Bey is not one to back down from a fight, and she’s citing charitable donations that the IRS overlooked.
The singer’s legal team argues that she’s donated millions to various charities over the years, including an undisclosed organization that received $868,766 in 2018.
The record-breaking singer wants the IRS to waive any tax penalties, citing her good faith and reasonable behavior.
US taxpayers have 90 days from the date of the notice to dispute the original assessment, and the singer’s legal team wasted no time in filing their petition.
The case will be promptly scheduled for trial, but most cases are settled without going to court.
While the IRS and Beyonce’s lawyers work to resolve the issue, the artist is preparing for her Renaissance World Tour, kicking off next month.
The 41-show run could earn $275 million, making it the singer’s fourth tour to break the $200 million barrier.
Queen Bey, whose net worth is reportedly around $450 million, is among the most successful artists of all time.
