Beyoncé is making history once again.
According to The Recording Academy, the music powerhouse has officially become the most-nominated artist in Grammy history, surpassing her husband, Jay-Z.
The couple had been tied with 88 nominations each, but Beyoncé now leads the pack thanks to recognition for her latest album, Cowboy Carter.
The 43-year-old superstar leads this year’s Grammys with 11 nominations, including several first-time nominations in the country categories.
She’s up for best country solo performance for “16 Carriages,” best country duo/group performance alongside Miley Cyrus for “II Most Wanted,” best country song for “Texas Hold ‘Em,” best country album, best Americana performance for “YA YA,” and best pop duo/group performance for “LEVII’s Jeans,” with Post Malone.
This marks Beyoncé’s first time receiving nominations in the country and Americana categories.
If she wins Album of the Year, Beyoncé will become the first Black woman to do so in the 21st century. Lauryn Hill was the last Black woman to win the prestigious award in 1999 for “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill”.
Other Black women who have held the title include Natalie Cole for “Unforgettable…With Love” in 1992 and Whitney Houston for “Saving All My Love for You” in 1993.

Beyoncé’s record-breaking nominations come on the heels of controversy from last year’s Grammy Awards when JAY-Z publicly called out the Recording Academy for repeatedly snubbing his wife in the Album of the Year category.
“We want y’all to get it right,” the music mogul, 54, said as he accepted the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award. “At least getting close to right. And obviously, it’s subjective. Y’all don’t gotta clap at everything. Obviously, it’s subjective because, you know, it’s music and it’s opinion-based.”
“But, you know, some things — I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won album of the year,” he added.
“So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that. The most Grammys never won Album of the Year. That doesn’t work.”
At that time, Beyoncé had been nominated for Album of the Year four times but lost to Taylor Swift in 2010, Beck in 2015, Adele in 2017, and Harry Styles in 2023.
“You know, some of you gonna go home tonight and feel like you’ve been robbed. Some of you may get robbed. Some of you don’t belong in a category. No, when I get nervous, I tell the truth,” JAY-Z added.
