Bishop T.D Jakes is reportedly stable after suffering a medical emergency during a sermon on Sunday (November 24), according to megachurch Potter’s House of Dallas, where he serves as senior pastor.
Jakes, 67, was delivering his message when he suddenly dropped his microphone and fell silent. “Oh, Lord. My strength, my redeemer, let them go in peace,” were his final words before the incident.
Moments later, he began shaking in his seat, prompting those nearby to rush to his aid. As the congregation reacted with concern, ushers called for space, and the livestream was cut off. A voice off-camera urged attendees and online viewers to “begin to pray.”
Shortly after, The Potter’s House team released a statement confirming Jakes received immediate medical attention and was stable under professional care.
“During today’s service, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message,” they wrote.
“Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals. The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community. Thank you for your understanding and continued prayers.”
They did not, however, share if he was hospitalized or what might have triggered the medical emergency.

Later in the day, his daughter Sarah Jakes Roberts and her husband Toure Roberts, who both often deliver sermons at the megachurch and are co-pastors at ONE | A Potter’s House Church in Los Angeles, addressed the situation on Instagram.
“Obviously, today could have been a tragic day, but it wasn’t; by the mercy of God, by the grace of God, Bishop is doing well, he’s recovering well, he’s under medical care, he’s strong,” Toure said.
“We’re trying to get him to sit down, he’s the strong Bishop that we know, but we really can’t thank you enough for your prayers.”
“I’m so grateful that he’s already beginning to improve,” Sarah added.
She expressed gratitude for the prayers and reminded followers to cherish their loved ones during the holiday season.
“It’s a reminder that even going into this holiday season, we need to love on the people who you hold near and dear and just take the time to be grateful for all the people God’s given you.”
