We literally cannot make this stuff up. A Black woman took to her TIKTOK to share a horrible experience of profiling at Citibank.
The young lady known as ‘Babystorme’ on social media is a musician and she has banked with Citi for 5 years.
She went to a branch to deposit a $30,000 dollar check given to her by her father who wanted to pay off her rent for the year.
In the video, she said the bank teller told her she could not verify the check and that they are confiscating it.
Even though you will hear Storme suggest that they call her dad to speak on her behalf they refused to make the call.
She is not able to determine:
1. Why the check couldn’t be verified
2. Why they wouldn’t call her dad
3. Why her check is getting confiscated.
To add insult to injury, Storme tells them she is recording the incident and they demand to ‘take the video’ from her phone.
The branch decides to then call the cops, and proceed to lock her in the branch to ensure she did not leave.
Makes no sense! Twitter responds:
CitiBank, your employee
1-Racially profiled BabyStorme
2-Accused her of trying to pass a bad check
3-Confiscated her ‘bad check’
4-Told her she couldn’t leave the building without deleting the video evidence of this incident
5- ILLEGALLY kept her & called the police on her

Hey @Citi — I am switching banks tomorrow. I won’t work with a bank who treats Black people like this. Your racist behaviour towards @babystorme was dangerous. I would have felt afraid and dehumanized. I guess @citi’s “commitment to racial equity” is only in theory not practice! pic.twitter.com/JRfVgVdNHj
