Yesterday I can say without a doubt that most of us agreed that Chrisette’s performance at the Trump inauguration tomorrow was not favorable.
Let’s recap! – To quote some of what you all said on Facebook:
Thing is, being asked to perform for a President is one thing but doing it for him in particular.. is like you agree with the crap he said throughout his campaign and the crap he’s saying now. I’m not sure how we are supposed to forget that really.
Then there was this comment:
Unfortunately I’ve purchased her music in the past, and she’s been compensated. I will no longer support her, and knowingly listen to her music.
Well despite all of our opinions on the topic and since the hoopla which Chrisette and her team anticipated, she has released a statement finally which did not confirm nor deny her performance.
Check it out below:
“My heart is broken for our country, for the hopes of our children, for the fights of those who came before us.
I cry at the thought that Black History, American History might be in vain.
This country has had great moments. God has shined His light upon us.
Today, I hope that Great Moments begin in peaceful & progressive conversation. I am willing to be a bridge. I don’t mind “These Stones”, if they allow me to be a voice for the voiceless.
I am here.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Our lives begin to end, the day we become silent about what matters,”.
I am here, representing you, because this is what matters.”
