Tyler Perry’s ‘Divorce In The Black’ was universally panned by critics, but star Cory Hardrict has defended the movie.
Starring Hardrict alongside Meagan Good, the movie debuted on July 11.
A TMZ reporter stopped Hardrict and asked him about the movie’s overwhelmingly negative critical response, but the actor gushed about the popular flick.
“Yeah, listen, I’m in Mr. Tyler Perry’s Divorce in the Black. It’s the number one movie in the world. I’m excited, man. Number one movie in the world right now! Listen, I’m excited.”
Cory Hardrict’s Latest Film Is A Hit With Fans

Despite the critical reception, the movie has been a hit with fans.
Divorce in the Black has a 73 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes from over 500 user reviews.
Cory Hardrict also denied knowing what critics are saying about the movie.
“I don’t know nothing about it. I didn’t see that. I mean, the people love the movie and we do it for the people–that’s who I do it for. If the culture’s rocking with it, it’s all love. Shoutout Mr. Perry, I love Mr. Perry, though. That’s my guy.”
Hardrict admitted that “everyone has an opinion, and they’re entitled to it.”
He added:
“So it’s fine… But as long as the people see it, my neighborhood see it, South Side, Chicago, L.A. see it, everybody see it, then I’m happy, it’s all love.”
Cory Hardrict revealed that he’s working on another project with Tyler Perry, although he didn’t reveal much about it.
But the actor waxed lyrical about working with Perry.
“He takes care of his actors, it’s a loving set and we’re gonna do it again.”
Hardrict admitted that he hadn’t read Loni Love’s X post urging Perry to hire Black directors and actors to improve his projects.
Love wrote:
“He could improve the movies & make them award worthy if he would stop trying to save money by doing the writing and directing himself.”
