DDG is standing up for the mother of his child.
Following Halle Bailey’s public criticism of him bringing their son Halo onto Kai Cenat’s livestream without her consent, the “Straight Outta Pontiac” rapper is urging fans to stop the hate towards his ex-girlfriend.
“One thing I don’t like what people do, I don’t like when people hate on Halle,” DDG, 27, said of the Little Mermaid star. “I don’t care if people think she wrong or not, or if I think she wrong or right.”
He added: “She could be going through something mentally after having a kid that I can’t understand as a man.”
“So, when situations like this happen, I try to handle it with as much grace as possible because Halo needs her, I need her, we need each other to create a childhood that’s safe and fun and memorable for him,” DDG explained.
DDG then went on to call Halo his “biggest blessing”, adding that he’ll always have love for Halle for bringing him into his life.
“Halo is the biggest blessing in my life,” he said. “And I don’t remember what life was like before Halo.”
“And I wouldn’t have him if it wasn’t for Halle, and for that reason alone, I got unconditional love and respect for her, that nobody can really change,” he added.

The “Moonwalking in Calabasas” rapper also reminded fans that he and Halle are navigating a challenging transition and expressed frustration with the public’s tendency to stir drama between them.
“We’re going through a very different transition right now. We only been parents for 10 months,” he said of their relationship.
“Now, we going through like a little [breakup] whatever. Y’all gotta understand that we going through something that’s a little hard for us. So, when little stuff like this happens it’s really nothing. People go through stuff like this all the time.”
“I just don’t appreciate when people try to put me against her or me versus her and all of this, ‘She’s wrong and he’s right, blah blah blah,” DDG continued. “Y’all could hate on me for as long as y’all want, but leave Halle alone, man.”
The rapper’s comments come a day after Halle expressed being “extremely upset” over the livestream incident, revealing that she hadn’t been notified about Halo’s appearance.
“[H]i everyone. just so you know I am out of town and I don’t approve of my baby being on a stream tonight,” Halle wrote on X. “
“I wasn’t told or notified and I am extremely upset to have my baby in front of millions of people. I am his mother and protect and saddened that I wasn’t notified especially when I am out of town.”
The following day, Halle addressed her previous statement, admitting that she might have overreacted.
“Yesterday maybe I did overreact and shouldn’t have brought it here,” the actress tweeted. “I know that Halo is always safe with his dad. I just don’t like finding out with the rest of the world what my baby is doing.”
