I absolutely come from the type of household that would not tolerate certain hairstyles because of cultural beliefs so I get it, but did this young lady’s parents go too far?
TikToker @its.a.n.n.I.e.e shared a video on Tiktok where she describes getting braids for her birthday.
In her caption, she said she woke up to the braids cut short which left her with dead ends instead of the curls she wanted for her birthday.
In her story time, she said, her mother took her to the beauty supply store to purchase the hair, and both of them thought the hair was half the length it actually turned out to be.
By the time she realized the hair was super long, she was already in the stylists’ chair and decided to just get them installed.
Her father who picked her up from the salon was not a fan.

She gone be in trouble when they find out about this video ?? Seriously tho, that’s so traumatic. I understand what they’re trying to do & say. But they gotta do better or they’re gonna push her straight to the places and people that they’re trying to keep her shielded from.
They went to far. They could have waited for her to do it herself.
I don’t think long braids makes a girl look like a prostitute but it does make them look older. I gave into long braids when my daughter was 16. I was tired of the begging ?
Long hair doesn’t make your baby girl a prostitute! I understand wanting to make sure your daughter looks her age (or whatever) but, in her sleep?! She even said she’d take them out herself! I think the parents could’ve waited and then in the morning made sure she took them out, cutting your babies hair while they sleep feels very invasive to me
parents really be like “what are boundaries” and then wonder why they can’t reach their child when they move out ???
We do not equate long braids to prostitution, but we do want to know from you, is their an age limit on long braids?
If so whats the appropriate age?
