According to VIBE Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly been placed on suicide watch as he awaits trial in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center for his alleged sex crimes.
Sources claim the 54-year-old “is in shock and his mental state is unclear.”
Although it hasn’t been made clear how long he’s been closely observed, according to the U.S Department of Justice National Institute of Corrections, the watch is a “preventive measure” where “supervisory precaution is taken for suicidal inmates that require frequent observation.”
According to his attorney, Marc Agnifilo, via TMZ, Diddy is “not at all suicidal.” Agnifilo adds that Diddy is in fact “strong, healthy, confident and focused on his defense.”
Diddy was arrested on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution on Monday night (Sept. 16). Since then, the music mogul has attempted to bail out twice, which he was denied both times.
His legal reps have argued to the judge that the conditions inside the MDC are not suitable for the father of seven.
“Just earlier this summer, an inmate was murdered,” his attorney stated. “At least four inmates have died by suicide there in the past three years.”
Reportedly, the MDC holds roughly 1,600 inmates with only a “few dozen awaiting trial.” The facility serves as New York City’s primary federal detention center dating back to 2021. It is also the same facility that’s held R. Kelly, Ghislaine Maxwell and cryptocurrency fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried.

According to PEOPLE Sean “Diddy” Combs was denied bail again on Wednesday, Sept. 18, a day after a federal judge in Manhattan remanded him to await trial at a jail in Brooklyn.
The rapper was initially denied bail during his arraignment in Manhattan’s federal court on Tuesday, Sept. 17, and remanded to jail. A different judge denied his request for bail on Wednesday.
Combs’ legal team promptly appealed the judge’s decision to deny bail, and returned to court the following afternoon. In a Sept. 17 letter to the judge, Combs’ lawyers described conditions at Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn as “horrific” and “not fit for pre-trial detention.”
His defense proposed in court Wednesday that Combs live at home alone in Florida with a 24/7 security team that would monitor a pre-approved guest list.
He offered to give up any access to his cell phone or internet, and in the words of his lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, “do nothing but prepare for his trial.”
But Judge Andrew L. Carter, Jr. said that “there is no condition or combination of conditions to ensure he will not obstruct justice or tamper with witnesses.”
Combs, dressed in the same black shirt and gray striped sweatpants he wore during his first bail hearing on Tuesday, dipped his head, looking down at the defense table when he heard the judge’s decision.

Who was part of Diddy’s ‘criminal enterprise’
Combs relied on those close to him to help orchestrate and maintain a decades-long pattern of sexual abuse, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York said.
“He used his business and employees of that business and other close associates to get his way,” Damian Williams said on Tuesday during a press conference.
That included “high-ranking supervisors, personal assistants, security staff and household staff.”

According to The Guardian Sean “Diddy” Combs, the rapper and music mogul, pleaded not guilty to charges of racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution on Monday in New York for allegedly running a decades-long “criminal enterprise” that forced women into sex acts.
In an indictment unsealed on Tuesday morning, federal prosecutors allege Combs threatened and abused women “to fulfill his sexual desires” by forcing them to engage in recorded sexual activity which he referred to as “Freak Outs”.
Prosecutors say “Freak Outs” occurred regularly and often included commercial sex workers. Victims were given narcotics and other substances to comply.
Federal agents say they seized more than 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant from Combs’ Miami home approximately six months ago. They allege these items, in addition to seized electronic recording devices, were used for “Freak Outs”.
His lawyer, Marc Agnifilio, said Combs was
“an innocent man with nothing to hide.” He said the musician has been cooperating with federal authorities and voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of the arrest.
“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” Agnifilo said in a statement.
