Looks like 2025 is the year of the swamp princess.
Doechii (aka the swamp princess) has been named Billboard’s 2025 Woman of the Year and will be honored at an event taking place on March 29, the news outlet announced Monday (March 10th).
Past recipients of this honor include Billie Eilish, Cardi B, Karol G, Olivia Rodrigo, Selena Gomez, and SZA.
“After receiving the Billboard Women in Music Rising Star Award in 2023, Doechii is taking pop culture by storm, this year, becoming the third woman in history to win a Grammy best rap album, and dazzling fans of every musical genre with her breathtaking performances, ultra-candid lyrics and utterly unique sound, style and spirit,” Hannah Karp, Editor-in-Chief of Billboard, said in a press statement.
“We are thrilled to celebrate Doechii and cheer on her continued success.”
The Florida-bred rapper will be the third woman to progress from a Rising Star Award to Woman of the Year, following Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande.

A rising powerhouse rapper, Doechii has become a household name with her viral hits No Scrubs, Catfish, and Denial is River, which peaked at No. 21 on the Hot 100.
On February 2, she became only the second solo woman to win a Grammy for Best Rap Album, following in the footsteps of Cardi B. Doechii took home the award for her acclaimed mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal.
She had also earned nominations for Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance. That same night, the 26-year-old made her Grammys stage debut with an electrifying performance of Denial is a River and Catfish.
Less than three weeks later, Doechii was named Outstanding New Artist at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards.
She has had five songs chart on the Billboard Hot 100, including Balloon, ExtraL, and What It Is (Block Boy).

Doechii’s achievements will be celebrated alongside honorees Angela Aguilar (Breakthrough Award), Erykah Badu (Icon Award), Glorilla (Powerhouse Award), Muni Long (Rising Star Award), Tyla (Impact Award), and more later this month at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California.
Fans can purchase tickets via Ticketmaster (starting at $89) or watch for free on March 29 at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT on VIZIO TVs and the VIZIO mobile app, with VIZIO WatchFree+ serving as the exclusive streaming home for the broadcast.
