Earnest Williams, husband of the Steve Harvey Morning Show co-host Shirley Strawberry, has been indicted on RICO.
According to Channel 2 Action News, the Fulton County District Attorney found Williams guilty of taking advantage of several victims for financial gain.
The Fulton County District Attorney, Fani Willis, said:
“He’s been conning people since 2009 to 2022.
DA Willis revealed the grand jury’s choice to indict Williams under the Georgia Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act.
Earnest Williams Has Been Proven Guilty
DA Willis added:
“He would pretend to be a legitimate businessman, but he was stealing from people, in United States currency, vehicles, and really just talking advantage of people.”
Earnest Williams was indicted in 39 counts, including fraudulently marrying Shirley Strawberry, a co-host on the “Steve Harvey Morning Show.”
Deputy District Attorney Will Wooten said that Williams did this to:
“…create this impression of some level of success and used that to scam other people.”
According to documents, Williams knowingly entered the fraudulent marriage.
Willis revealed:
“We believe she met a man, fell in love and married him and the truth is at the time he was already married to someone else.”
Attorneys accused Williams of using his marriage with Strawberry to get access to victims.
And within twelve years, Williams scammed over 25 victims out of more than $750,000.
Williams allegedly stole coach buses, motorbikes, personal vehicles and more by giving back checks or not returning the items.
“He would pretend to be a legitimate businessman, but he was stealing from people.”
Wooten said:
“Earnest Williams often created this impression of a close relationship or a romantic relationship with many of these victims, used those relationships to take money, vehicles, vehicle trailers, RV’s and other property from them.”
According to the district attorney, Williams mainly scammed women, and there could be more victims who haven’t come out.
