According to Vibe beloved couple Maya Jama and Stormzy have broken up after they rekindled their romance last year.
The pair announced their breakup on Wednesday (July 17).
Maya, a model and television host, shared a detailed statement on her Instagram story explaining their decision.
She expressed that she never anticipated having to make their split public but emphasized that they did so to ensure clarity and peace.
“We fell madly in love in 2014, broke up in 2019, and then spent five years manoeuvring life apart,” the letter read. “We decided to try for the final time in August 2023, and we’ve spent this past year trying our best to make it work; however, we recently decided to call it quits.”
The parting of ways was best summed up with: “We tried and it didn’t work and that’s okay.”
The “HIDE & SEEK” rapper and TV personality insisted that they were still in a good place and will always have love for each other. “We still think the absolute world of each other, we still care and respect each other, we are still grateful for the time we’ve had together, and we are still friends and will always be friends (so if you see us having a lil catch-up at The Brits or something, don’t cause a fuss, we are dawgs!)”
“We’re kindly asking for the grace to let both of us keep it moving and not be bothered about it (we highly doubt this’ll work, but we’re still kindly asking anyway),” the note concluded.

Although the couple made it known that they desired a smooth split, fans still chose to weigh in with a plethora of opinions and reactions.
One user jokingly compiled everything people are going through at the moment across the pond.
“We lost the Euros, love island is a mess and now Maya Jama and Stormzy have broken up!? I can’t that’s my final straw,” they wrote. Love Island is the widely popular dating show that Maya Jama hosts.
Another person quoted the letter and applied it to Stormzy’s potential next lover.
“’We’re still friends and will always be friends’ after they dated for a decade and he made albums about her loooool. Good luck to the next girl,” the person typed on X.
