Freddie Jackson revealed his diagnosis of kidney disease, announcing his intention to raise awareness about treatment and prevention through his platform.
The iconic singer took to social media on Wednesday (Sept. 4) to share the news, posting videos where he discussed his health journey and explained why he chose to publicly address his condition.
According to Vibe he said:
“After a lot of thought and reflection, I’ve come to a point where I feel I’m ready to talk about a recent chapter in my life,” …“This journey has had its challenges, but I’ve decided to face it with openness and resilience.”
“It’s important to me that I share this with you, not just as a part of my personal story, but as a way to make a positive difference,” he said.
Jackson also revealed that he has partnered with the National Kidney Foundation, a collaboration he hopes will “help shine a light on the importance of this issue” and educate the masses.
“As I take this step, I’m turning my personal experience into a platform for greater understanding and advocacy,” Jackson said of the endeavor.
“With your help, we can work towards better awareness and improved outcomes for everyone with kidney disease.”
