A high school senior was shot and killed by her 21-year-old boyfriend in an apparent murder-suicide while they were headed to her homecoming dance in Louisiana, authorities report.
Dashyla Ardoin, 17, and her DJ boyfriend, Glenkeithan Robertson, 21, were found dead from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle heading to Mamou just after 7 p.m. on Saturday (October 12), according to the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
“From the investigation, this case is believed to be a murder/suicide,” the sheriff’s office said.
Officials told People they believe Robertson was the shooter, though they don’t know what the motive behind the killings is.
They did confirm that Ardoin and Robertson were heading to Ardoin’s homecoming dance at Mamou High School.
There were no other people in the car at the time and no other injuries to report, the Sheriff’s office said.
As the tragic news unfolded, Ardoin’s high school issued a statement via Facebook saying, “Lord, we pray for peace, strength, and understanding as we return to school tomorrow without one of our own. Please keep our students and staff, as well as the family and friends of Dashayla, in your prayers.
“Dashayla will always be remembered for her courage and bravery, her kind heart, and her beautiful smile. She was so very loved and will be dearly missed,” the statement read.
Robertson’s social media accounts indicate he worked as a DJ under the moniker DJ Titanic. One of his pinned Instagram posts was of him and Ardoin captioned “Me & You Against The World.”
