Despite experiencing racism, Washington wondered whether his family’s kindness towards the community positively impacted his classmates’ view of him and his success as an actor today.
Isaiah Washington also revealed that his family’s home was often better off than his neighbors’.
“My mother never refused to let Their kids into her house to eat a summer lunch and drink from our vintage JFK water glasses.”
His folks would even offer summer lunches to the other kids, complete with fancy JFK water glasses.
And now, he wonders if those kids who couldn’t publicly show him love and respect back then now secretly support him as an A-list actor.
