Jennifer Lopez might lose a $90 million Las Vegas residency deal due to disappointing ticket sales for her upcoming tour.
Page Six reports that J. Lo’s planned 90-date residency at the MGM in Las Vegas is at risk as she has had to cancel multiple dates of her This Is Me… Live tour.
Initial bids from competing casinos were between $800,000 and $875,000 per performance. However, MGM and Live Nation offered Lopez a deal to perform 90 shows at $1 million each, a sum that now seems excessive given her apparent difficulty in selling tickets.
According to Vibe
“MGM is watching her not doing well on the road,” …. “They are very nervous. It’s pretty rare you have a poor tour and then go to Vegas,” they added, referencing her looming North America tour, which will include dates in the U.S. and Canada.
This Is Me… Live is the upcoming fifth concert tour by Lopez and is in support of her ninth studio album, This Is Me… Now. Slated to begin on June 26 in Orlando and end on August 17 in New York City, This Is Me… Live is currently scheduled to consist of 30 shows, including stops in Miami, Texas, California, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Philadelphia and more.
This Is Me… Now, released in Feburary 2024, marked the sequel to Jennifer Lopez’s third studio album This Is Me… Then. The album marked her first studio album in nearly a decade and debuted at No. 38 on the Billboard 200, Lopez’s first album to debut outside of the Top 20.
Lopez has teased that This Is Me… Now could possibly be the final album of her career, as she looks ahead to retirement from the music industry.
“The truth is I don’t even know if I’ll ever make another album after this. It’s such the kind of quintessential kind of Jennifer Lopez J.Lo project and I really feel very fulfilled, so they really will be collector’s items at a certain point,” the Bronx native told ET.
“Don’t tell Benny [Medina] that that’s what I’m thinking — this might be my last album ever. I feel like it’s the end of a kind of an era for me and the beginning of a new one, so I would never say never, but right now I feel like I really put my heart and soul into this and I’m very excited and it definitely took a lot out of me.”
