Kandi Burruss isn’t here for the legal drama.
During a recent Amazon Live, the former Real Housewives of Atlanta star, 48, addressed the $150,000 lawsuit filed by the landlord of her steak and seafood restaurant, Blaze, over alleged back rent and repair costs.
“It was just a disagreement between us and the landlord,” she explained.
“But to let you know, they had to drop my name off so…I think they just put my name on there anyway so that they could get publicity for the lawsuit.”
Burruss confirmed that as of March 21, her name had officially been removed from the suit.
“The rest is being worked out because it really was a disagreement about some repairs that they made and then who would be responsible for it,” she said.
“So, we were just going back and forth about that, basically, and that’s why it turned out into what it turned into. But it looks like we’re gonna come to some agreement…so it’ll be fine.”
As previously reported, Burruss’s upscale restaurant, Blaze Steak & Seafood, was hit with the lawsuit in early March after the landlord claimed the business owed a hefty sum in unpaid rent and repair costs.
According to Vibe, the property owner, Montego Pacific Inc., filed the lawsuit in Fulton County State Court on March 3, alleging that Burruss, along with her restaurant, owed $154,139.17 in back rent and $56,495.75 in property repairs, plus a 10% overhead fee.
At the time, Montego Pacific Inc. gave Burruss 10 days to settle the balance before taking further legal action.
Burruss and her husband, Todd Tucker, opened Blaze Steak & Seafood in Atlanta in 2020. The couple also owns Old Lady Gang, a Southern comfort food eatery in Castleberry Hill.
