One month ago, Diddy announced his interest in buying BET.
However, TMZ reports that he faces new competition from an explosive superstar trio: Kenya Barris, 50 Cent, and Shaquille O’Neal.
Kenya Barris, 50 Cent, and Shaquille O’Neal Take The Fight To Diddy
TMZ reported that Barris and 50 were spotted outside the Paramount offices in the Big Apple, engaged in an intense discussion.
And they’re not alone in this wild adventure; rumor has it they’ve teamed up with the legendary Shaq and an investment company called CVC.
Now, that’s a dream team!
That said, the BET acquisition is far from done.
Insiders claim these Black entrepreneurs are knee-deep in negotiations.
And if recent events are any indication, they’ll have to fight off Diddy, Tyler Perry, and Byron Allen.
It’s like a celebrity battle royale for ownership!
According to Variety, Diddy wants BET to help form a Black-owned global media empire.
The billionaire already owns REVOLT under his Combs Global umbrella, so he’s no stranger to the entertainment game.
Diddy’s media company has an impressive lineup content, including gems like Caresha Please and Drink Champs.
So, it seems the entrepreneur wants to dominate the scene.
The Wall Street Journal broke the news that Paramount Global wants to sell off the majority stake in BET Media Group.
Their reason?
To bolster its flagship streaming service, Paramount+, and its advertiser-supported platform, Pluto TV.
Considering Diddy’s billionaire status, you wouldn’t bet against him winning the bid–or even Tyler Perry.
However, I’d also put my money on 50 Cent’s teamup.
Honestly, it’s a bad investment to buy BET or a legacy media platform at this point. They’d be better off starting their own digital platform.
Although, if they’re doing it cause BET already has a large brand name and they’ll transition to digital media then it’s worth it
