Kim Kardashian recently launched her new skincare line ‘SKNN By Kim’ which has been in the works for over a year now.
On Instagram she wrote:
I’m excited to finally introduce to you SKKN BY KIM, a rejuvenating nine-product skincare ritual that I have developed from start to finish.
I’ve been so privileged to learn about skin and skin care over the years from the world’s top dermatologists and estheticians, and every bottle from my new line is filled with the knowledge I’ve accumulated along the way.
You will experience refillable packaging, and clean, science-backed ingredients designed to nourish all skin types, tones, and textures at all stages of maturity.
I created this line so that everyone can feel confident in their skin, and I can’t wait to finally be able to share it with you!

With that said people could not help but notice the similarities to Lori Harvey’s brand ‘SKN by LH,’ launched last October and they are calling Kim out for the similarities in the names.

But before we even get to Lori, let’s talk about Cydnie Lunsford, a 28-year-old entrepreneur, licensed Master Esthetician, and owner of Beauty Concepts LLC and SKKN Plus Brooklyn on social media.
We shared her story last year.
Her company has been in business since 2018 in Washington DC and she expanded her brand to New York.
According to Complex Lunsford argues that her brand has been using the name SKKN+ since July 2017 to offer salon and skincare services to clients and that it would confuse customers if Kim is granted use of the name.
Last year she said:
“I have painstakingly built my successful small business with my own sweat equity, hard work, and research,” Lunsford said in an email to Complex.
“It’s clear that I established my brand first. As a young black woman, my mission with SKKN+ is to provide quality skincare and curated full-body experiences to enhance each client’s self-care regimen. The (+) represents a hands-on transformative aesthetic experience that elevates the body, mind, and spirit.”
According to TMZ – Lawyers for Beauty Concepts LLC fired off a cease and desist letter to KK’s legal team, claiming since July 2017 it’s provided salon and skin care services under its SKKN+ brand name, owned by Cydnie Lunsford.
In the legal letter, Beauty Concepts says Kim’s trademark application for “SKKN” is a ripoff of their innovative moniker, and simply adding “By Kim” does little to differentiate the brands.
What’s more … Beauty Concepts says it has used the SKKN+ name for 3 years before Kim’s company applied for its trademark.
People on Twitter are now connecting the dots between all three companies
SKKN+ has been in business since 2018 and provides skin care and beauty salon services.
Kim’s trademarks mainly focus on providing products like candles, makeup sponges, bags, shower curtains, cosmetics, etc.

A few other relevant registrations are SKN BEVERLY HILLS (Reg. No 3373089) owned by Vicki Rappaport, who also owns the recently registered SKN mark, and another company SKN Science. Knowledge. Nutrition who owns this logo mark for non-medicated skin care preparations. pic.twitter.com/flKTzLrB8q

In theory, the more people/brands that use a generic or descriptive word the WEAKER that singular word becomes.
The argument is that the mark will become entitled to a “narrow scope of protection.”

So SKKN+ was trademarked in 2018, but Lori Harvey still created SKN and now SKKN by Kim Kardashian is coming out?! It’s not adding up

We do not know who will win this battle but we do know that brand will always reign supreme at the end of the day.
