Is an employer obligated to pay the bills of their employees because they are ‘rich’?
This question is being actively debated on Twitter due to a post made by Kylie Jenner who was asking for donations to her makeup artists go fund me page.
According to Newsweek – Kylie Jenner is facing a backlash on social media after she asked fans to donate to a friend’s GoFundMe campaign.
The fundraising page was set up to help pay for the medical bills of makeup artist Samuel Rauda, who was injured in an accident on March 14 and has since undergone major surgery, according to the page.
As of early Sunday, the page has amassed almost $100,000 in donations, exceeding its initial $60,000 target.
May God watch over you and protect you @makeupbysamuel,” she wrote. “Everyone take a moment to say a prayer for Sam who got into an accident this past weekend. And swipe up to visit his families [sic] go fund me.”
The reality television star and entrepreneur appears to have donated $5,000 to the page herself. It is not known if Jenner has made any private contribution to the medical bills.
Earlier this week, 23-year-old Jenner had taken to her Instagram Stories to ask her fans to donate to Rauda’s GoFundMe page. However, many on Twitter have pointed out that Jenner—as 2020’s highest-paid celebrity with earnings of $590 million, according to Forbes magazine—could easily afford to cover the cost of Rauda’s medical bills herself.
A wave of critical tweets prompted her name to trend on the platform on Sunday.
“Her makeup artist apparently needs $60k. Kylie Jenner paying that would be like someone with $100k net worth sparing $6.72 to pay off a friend’s medical bills,” Charlotte Clymer tweeted.
“In other words, paying off her friend’s medical bills would be like a buying a premium latte for Jenner.”

$1.25 million yacht rental

Not everyone agrees with this narrative though, today other popular celebrities weighed in saying Kylie has no obligation to pay for her makeup artist’s bills. Asian Doll shared an alternative stance:
People mad at Kylie for raising 60k for her makeup artist instead of giving him 60k cause she rich ??
Either way he got 60k right ? Even if she ain’t personally give it to him he still got it from HER supporters meanwhile your friend won’t even take you to your job orientation

The debate is interesting, here is our opinion. If we had the money and we had an employee that needed help, we would help them, plain and simple.
Should Kylie be obligated to pay her makeup artist’s hospital bills because she is rich? What do you think? Comment below!
