Latto is worried she might have “bombed” her first meeting with Eminem.
During a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the 25-year-old rapper shared the details of her run-in with the legendary artist, admitting it didn’t exactly go as planned.
When Hudson asked about her experience with Eminem as a guest judge on Rhythm + Flow (where Latto was also a judge), the “Big Energy” rapper confessed that she was “so gagged.”
“I was like, ‘Oh, I bombed that. He probably thinks I’m weird because I just was like, ahh. I didn’t know what to say, so I was like, ‘Gah, thank you!” Latto said, referring to the moment Eminem revealed he was a fan of her music.
She went on to reveal how significant the “Mockingbird” was to her family.
“My daddy listened to Eminem so much growing up; that’s, like, probably his favorite rapper,” she continued. “So, it was just like, ‘Oh, don’t lie to me. For real?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah.’ And then I asked for a picture later, and he was like, ‘Yeah.’ He probably thinks I’m a little awkward.”

As for being one of the three permanent judges on the Netflix show alongside DJ Khaled and Ludacris, Latto explained to Hudson that the role offered her a chance to mentor aspiring rap and hip-hop artists – a type of guidance she didn’t have access to when she was starting out in the industry.
The Grammy-nominated rapper, who released her third album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea, in August, shared that her time as a judge also reignited her passion for music, bringing her back to the roots of her own career.
And although the “B*tch From Da Souf” rapper previously won the first season of The Rap Game in 2016 and later became a judge on the Netflix series eight years later, she clarified that she’s an artist first.
“I be like, ‘I’m a rapper. I make music. I’m not a reality TV star.”
