Latto is getting candid about her reason for getting a BBL at 21.
In a recent livestream with fans, the It’s Givin’ rapper revealed the online bullying she faced, with people calling her “bad-bodied,” played a significant role in her decision to go under the knife.
“My body was so tea. I gained a little weight ’cause I signed my deal when I had just turned 21,” Latto explained. And I was just having money and living a whole new life, eating out. Y’all know I’m a foodie, so now I had the funds to feed this foodie in me and stuff, so I gained a little weight.”
“And everybody on the internet was calling me ‘bad bodied’ and stuff, so, I feel like that played a role. I started being a little insecure about my body.”
Despite her efforts to maintain a healthy lifestyle, the criticism continued.
“Every time I post a gym picture, people be like, ‘Oh, she got a BBL.’ I’ve been so loud and clear about a BBL that I had four years ago. When I was 21, [the BBL] that y’all convinced me I needed, by the way,” Latto emphasized.
The Sunday Service rapper clarified that she had only gotten “one BBL four years ago” and stressed her dedication to working out.
“Moral of the story: I just think everybody should just stop worrying about everybody. Natural girls are winning. Surgery girls…BBL girls are winning,” she said.
“Do what works for you and mind your own business. Make your own decisions based on what you want to do, not what other people are telling you to do.”

This isn’t the first time Latto has discussed her body image struggles.
In a previous conversation with Yung Miami and Saucy Santana on “Caresha Please,” Latto shared her thoughts on body enhancements and societal pressures.
“If you had the money, you’d do it too,” Latto said, agreeing with Miami that no one should feel the need to lie about cosmetic procedures in 2022.
They also discussed the prevalence of BBLs in the entertainment industry, and Santana said, “I do feel like it’s a part of our job. When you get signed, you get your teeth done. You get jewelry. You get a BBL.”
Latto, however, remains committed to maintaining her physique through hard work and dedication.
“I tweeted the other day that I was almost going to get a round two of surgery, and then I was like, let me just get a trainer instead,” she told Cosmopolitan.
“If you look at my Instagram, you’ll see I’ve always worked out — before and after the surgery. But I will leave early or not push myself as hard. Having a trainer holds you accountable.”
