Chicago rapper Lil Durk was arrested Thursday in South Florida by U.S. Marshals on a charge of murder for hire, local enforcement confirms.
The “All My Life” hitmaker, whose legal name is Durk Devontay Banks, was booked into the Broward County Jail and is currently being held without bail.
His arrest comes a day after five people with ties to Lil Durk’s group Only The Family (OTF) collective, Asa Houston, David Brian Lindsey, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Kavon London Grant, and Keith Jones, were arrested on a federal indictment in California.
According to prosecutors, the five were accused of conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire targeting rapper Quando Rondo. The alleged crime was reportedly carried out in revenge for King Von’s 2020 murder.
Von was fatally shot by Quando’s associate Lul Tim after a heated argument.
According to court documents obtained by The Post, officials claim the men used an OTF-associated credit card to purchase plane tickets to Los Angeles in August 2022. It is reported that the trip’s purpose was to search for Quando Rondo, real name Tyquian Terrel Bowman.
Once there, Grant allegedly booked a room for the men to stay at, where he provided them with firearms. He also allegedly rented two vehicles used to follow Rondo and his 24-year-old cousin Saviay’a Robinson.
When the pair stopped for gas in the Beverly Grove neighborhood, Houston allegedly drove into an alley before Jones and Lindsey carried out the shooting.
Rondo wasn’t injured in the shooting. However, Robinson was fatally wounded.
After the shooting, the men allegedly went to a nearby eatery to discuss remunerations, prosecutors say.
That same day, the credit was used to purchase plane tickets for Houston, Jones, Lindsey, and Wilson to return to Chicago.
Houston and Jones have a hearing scheduled in Chicago on Monday. Grant, Lindsey, and Wilson have waived their right to a hearing and will instead be sent to L.A., TMZ reports.
“Lil Durk’s recent arrest follows his being named in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the estate of FBG Duck, who was fatally shot in 2020. Earlier this year, Lil Durk became a Grammy-winning artist for his hit track “All My Life,” after previously receiving four nominations.
