Mary J. Blige is getting cryptic about bad investments.
In a message posted on X on Thursday (May 1), the “Just Fine” artist shared a note about cutting off people who don’t match your energy, seemingly addressing her former bestie of 30+ years.
“If people don’t reciprocate your love, time, and energy they are not good investments. Get rid of them asap and take care of you,” Blige wrote, adding, “Love You!” followed by a heart emoji.
While the Yorker-bred songstress did not mention Hylton, fans assumed the post to be about the fashion designer, as she recently filed a $5 million lawsuit against the Grammy winner for allegedly derailing rapper Vado’s career and refusing to drop his album until he cut ties with Hylton.

In the lawsuit filed in New York, Hylton claims MBJ sabotaged their business relationship to sever Vado’s management contract with Hylton’s agency, M.I.S.A Management Company.
Blige is also accused of using her company, Beautiful Life Productions, to interfere with Vado and Hylton’s signed management agreement, which would entitle the fashion stylist to 20% of the rapper’s earnings.
The lawsuit also claims the “Family Affair” singer’s security chief, described as her boyfriend, also wanted to sign Vado and warned him that he’d “lose out on opportunities” if he stayed loyal to Hylton.

During a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club with Lauren LoRosa, Hylton’s attorney, Nicholas Ramcharitar, called the lawsuit “unfortunate,” adding that the fashion stylist made multiple attempts to resolve the matter privately, but was ignored by Blige.
“Misa Hylton and Mary J. Blige, they’re not just friends, they’re non-biological family, probably closer than blood family, and it’s very unfortunate that this had to go down like this because Misa tried everything to amicably resolve the issue with Mary directly, with Mary’s camp,” Ramcharitar shared.
“But unbeknownst to us why, Mary J. Blige and her camp completely cut off Mrs. Hylton.”
The attorney clarified that the lawsuit didn’t end their friendship, adding that Hylton is “confused” by Blige’s behavior. He emphasized that what hurts most is not the legal battle but the possible end of their decades-long bond.
“It’s like all of a sudden you have a sister you been with forever, and 40 years later all of a sudden your sister stops talking to you and you don’t know why.”
