Come see about me.
According to Revolt, Mary J. Blige is introducing her fan club to a new side of her with an upcoming TV special, The Wine Down With Mary J. Blige, in which the artist sits down with a bevy of special guests for candid conversations.
“You all know me as Mary, the entertainer, but I can’t wait for you to get to know me as Mary, the friend,” Blige shared in a new 30-second teaser published on Wednesday (Feb 15) by BET. In the clip, the Queen of Hip Hop is seen chatting with guests Taraji P. Henson, Yung Miami, and 50 Cent.
“This is what I always wanted to do with a show that’s about me hanging out with people that I love, respect, and admire.”
She continued:
“This is what conversations are for — for people to hear us.”

The talk show is being promoted as “raw and unfiltered” and finds the nine-time Grammy-award-winning singer chatting with guests about everything from their careers to relationships. What’s more, fans won’t have to wait long since the first two episodes of the show premiere on BET on March 1 and March 8 at 10 pm est.
The Wine Down is also part of a first-look nonscripted deal between BET and Blige’s media production company Blue Butterfly. And it’s quite probable that the bevy of guests will be sipping on Blige’s Sun Goddess wine, which she launched with Italian wine connoisseur Marco Fantinel in 2020.
“BET has been one of my biggest supporters throughout my career,” Blige told Revolt of the deal. “Being able to now create together, for them to be so supportive of my vision for the type of content I will create, is something I am grateful and excited for. We already have multiple projects in the works, and there is much more to come.”
The TV special comes fresh off the heels of the R&B legend’s highly anticipated 2023 Grammy Awards performance, where she was nominated in six categories, including Album of the Year (Good Morning Gorgeous) and Record of The Year. 2023 marked the first time the 52-year-old was nominated as a solo artist in one of the Big Four categories since her nomination for song of the year in 2007 for “Be Without You.”
Blige also dropped her 14th studio album, Good Morning Gorgeous, the same weekend as her Super Bowl appearance. She reprised her role as Money in season two of Power Book II: Ghosr, which is set to return with a 3rd chapter on March 17.
