Actor Darius McCrary has filed a restraining order against his ex, Tammy Brawner, who he alleges has been “terrorizing him” for quite some time, RadarOnline reports.
The 46-year-old actor, best known for his role as Eddie Winslow in the 1990s sitcom Family Matters, first asked the court for a protective order against his ex in August 2022 after she allegedly broke his vehicle’s window and attempted to attack him with a lead pipe.
However, the order was denied since McCrary was a no-show at the hearing, alleging he missed the court date because he was “displaced” due to having to “flee” his ex.
Now, in new court documents obtained by The Blast, McCrary claims he was “emotionally traumatized and can’t focus on work or day to day for fear.”
McCrary’s petition also claimed that he is not in his own home “due to abuse (physical, verbal, mental) from my ex.”
He claimed that his ex had taken over his home, which he described as a “drug den” under her care.
“…she turned our then home into a drug den, she agreed to leave the country to attend rehab. She has returned and is now calling and sending threats. She has taken my possessions, placed them in storage, and refuses to return them. She continues to be mentally abusive.”
McCrary described the final straw that prompted him to go to court was in December 2022, when he alleged his dog’s life was in jeopardy.
“She threatened to have her friends come take my dog, and if I don’t pay her,” he said, adding, “she has keys to my vehicle.”
The actor also claimed that the ex is holding onto his valuable items and is “attempting to extort him, before adding that he fears he’ll “end up like Phil Hartman,” the beloved Saturday Night Live comedian who was fatally shot by his wife, Brynn Omdahl, in a murder-suicide in May 1998.
In addition to the restraining order, McCrary is also seeking a gag order as he fears his ex is “tarnishing his name in his workplace.”
“I am afraid she will cause further damage. She continues to call me a punk (and other names we are choosing not to list) and is slandering my name in several professional circles of the entertainment industry,” he said.
The actor’s hearing is set for later this month, where he will request a judge to make his temporary restraining order a permanent order of protection.
