Even before the Kansas City Chiefs were declared the Kings of the Super Bowl LVII, the true champion of the Super Bowl LVII was undoubtedly the Queen of Fenty herself – Rihanna!
And while her undeniably show-stopping performance delivered more than any Navy member had anticipated, it was also filled with numerous surprises – a cheeky but well-executed Fenty product placement, a belly rub that set social media on fire (congrats Riri), and a triumph of intricate choreography (honestly, we still can’t get over it) from her super-talented and frequent collaborator, Parris Goebel.
Yap! Parris deserves her flowers, fireworks, confetti, and probably an all-paid vacation to Barbados because that choreography was one for the books. Every dance move was executed effortlessly and with great panache!
Those body rolls – epic! The whining – electrifying! And let’s not even get into the dropping low – we wanted more. Thirteen minutes just wasn’t enough!

And it’s not the first time Goebel has delivered such an electrifying performance – in 2020, the Kiwi dance star choreographed Jennifer Lopez’s mind-blowing Super Bowl dance routine, earning her the title of “the Super Bowl’s hidden M.V.P.” from the New York Times.
Goebel was honored as a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) for her services to dance in 2020. The South-Auckland-born choreographer, actress, and director also received a medal in a formal ceremony in Wellington after being named in the Queen’s New Year’s Honors list in 2019.
The god-gifted genius (a moniker given to her by Riri herself) also won an EMMY for her splendid and highly-praised work with Rihanna on her Fenty runway show.
“Me and Rih – we just have such an awesome chemistry,” Goebel told Bazaar in a 2022 interview.
“She really gives me the freedom to create and express myself as a woman. Usually, I go crazy presenting to her ideas and different concepts, and she reacts, and then we keep working through it. It’s effortless, really. She trusts me and we just have fun with it.”

In her I.G. story, the Emmy-winning choreographer also elaborated on the hard work, dedication, and time it took into perfecting her craft to be involved in such a momentous occasion.
Goebel wrote:
“Nothing happens overnight. You quietly plant the seed somewhere deep in your heart. It starts off as a gigantic dream and it feels so very far away. Then as every day passes, you chip away at that dream.”
“Working tirelessly towards something that isn’t even at reach, but is in sight. Every day, every hour, every minute of work and dedication gets you closer to that dream. It feels like baby steps, but a million baby steps ends up becoming a hike up the tallest mountain. If you survive the setbacks, the turbulence, the doubt and never give up… one day that dream will be staring you in the eye…” she continued.
Ms. Goebel is truly a dance empress, a god-gifted genius, and a well-deserving Queen of choreo!
We can’t wait for her next big show – maybe Fenty X Savage Maternity Set Show? (we can dream) because we know it’ll be nothing short of outstanding.
