Yandy Smith and Mendeecees seem to be experiencing turbulence in their marriage lately.
In a recent sneak peek of Love & HipHop: Atlanta, the reality TV couple attended a counseling session to discuss their marital woes.
During the session, Yandy revealed that Mendeecees hasn’t been wearing his wedding ring while they’ve been going “through it.”
“All of a sudden, people be like, are y’all together? He [Mendeecees] doesn’t wear his ring. You know, it’s draining.” Yandy opened up to the therapists.
When asked how he felt about that, the record producer said, “For me, it has to feel real. Smiling for social media and smiling for the cameras, I can’t fake it.”
He then when on to allege that Yandy really pays attention to what “comments and blogs are saying” say and is willing to fake it for “people who don’t even give a f**k about you.”
The therapist then asked him if he was willing to fight for this. Mendeecees responded, “I feel like once we get to a place where respect is restored, then we can wear the ring,” he continued before explaining himself at the request. “My concept of wearing a ring is people together as one. I’m trying to get there.”
Yandy followed up by asking Mendeecees whether it was the “together part or the one part” he was trying to get to. He responded, “both” to his film producer wife, who seemed surprised before the clip cut off. Watch it below:

As mentioned, the therapy session is part of a sneak peek of an upcoming Love & HipHop: Atlanta episode, which the couple have been a part of since 2011.
The two got engaged on the show when Mendeecees proposed in 2014- that was before he went to prison in 2015.
They tied the knot in a lavish TV wedding ceremony in 2015 before the former real estate entrepreneur began serving his sentence in 2016.
That said, Yandy and Mendeecees didn’t get legally married until after the record producer was released in 2020.
“I have a union with Mendeecees, but I did not go into a partnership with Mendeecees and the government,” Yandy revealed during an episode of LAHH a few years back.
Regarding the couple’s recent marital issues, the entertainment manager feels Yandy undermines his authority and makes decisions without including him. In April, during an episode of the show, Mendeecees confessed that he and his wife had reached a “dark place.”
When a producer asked if commitment was holding their marriage together more than love, he responded, “Absolutely. 1000%. It’s supposed to be forever, but it doesn’t have to be forever.”

“Yeah, I wouldn’t be for any of this… so when things get tough, you’re no longer my husband?” @randirosario wrote about the couple’s situation.
Another, @misskearse, had this to say. “Her holding him down while he was in jail is not a get-out-a-jail-free card for her! She is his wife. Yandy does what Yandy wants to do and alot of times she emasculates him but for tv. She does a lot of things without even communicating with him first or even if he says he doesn’t like it she feels like because she makes the money she can do it no matter how he feels. That’s not ok. They are a team. And I’m speaking as a married woman who’s been married 12 years and with him for 21 years. Yandy really just be doing stuff for the tv and it’s played out now.”
Meanwhile, @beautifullyunique21 added, “That man has not wanted her since he got out and she had all that motion, he is just trying to find a way out. Just let em walk girl, most times when they start acting like this their mind is already made up. He is checked out. He’s just staying cause he knows she held him down.”
