Real Housewives of Potomac star Mia Thornton is spilling the tea on her relationship with Gordon Thornton.
To fill you in, Mia,39, and Gordon Thornton, 72, secretly split in July 2023. Then in September last year, Mia filed for divorce. She claimed the decision came after Gordon slammed her character in an interview.
Fast forward, and one year later, Mia is sharing some shocking truths about what led to the end of her 11-year marriage.
The TV personality took to her Instagram Thursday (October 17) to share her side of their split, alleging she was “fresh bait” when she met Gordon at 19 years old at a Gentleman’s Club in Charlotte. The ex-couple has a 32-year age gap.
Mia claims she was “masterminded and manipulated” by the franchise owner into thinking he was a “successful, powerful pillar of the community.“
However, when she tried distancing herself from him, Gordon would allegedly show up at her home unannounced and tell her she’d never amount to anything without him.
“This is exactly how the first couple of years went, trapped, confused, yet still found my way through it all,” she wrote.
Mia also talked about an instance she walked in on Gordon “having sex and making out with a friend” of hers. “So I followed my heart and ran back to my love INC.”
However, according to the reality TV star, Gordon “lost his mind, became abusive and threatened my existence.”
But she stayed.
“He[Gordon] shared that he was bankrupt and needed my help. Begged me not to leave him and for us to make it work. With less than gas money in his bank account, I decided to remain in my marriage and help him get back on his feet.”
“Little did I know this would be the first time of many rebuilding episodes that I would have to climb our family out of financial distress,” she continued.
Mia then went on to detail the “many levels of abuse” she experienced and that it took her over ten years to find the courage to “live life on my own terms.”
“I’ve endured many levels of abuse. He promised that if I ever tried to leave him, he would assure me that I would not live a prosperous life,” she added, before concluding:
“I’m tired of protecting a predator, one who pays for sexual favors. Who preys on young women and master manipulates them into being his sex slaves.”
Gordon has yet to comment.

One month later, Gordon gave a crass interview to TMZ, sharing that he gave Mia a hall pass to sleep with whomever she wanted to “satisfy” her needs.
“I know there’s going to come a time when I probably won’t be able to satisfy all of her needs,” he told TMZ at the time.
The entrepreneur further claimed that he allowed Mia to “find what she needed elsewhere” so he didn’t understand her desire to exit their 11-year marriage.
“What really aggravates me through all of this, is that I’d given her permission, and yet she still chooses to sneak around, chooses to lie, chooses to continually change her story about what’s going on and why she’s leaving me,” he added.
Mia was incensed by his remarks but emphasized that she’d never publicly shame her ex, noting that her main aim is to preserve his relationship with two kids.
“I’m trying to reel him in and we need to work together as a family. We have these beautiful babies that we’re raising and being a mom is No. 1 for me,” she told Page Six.
“And I’m very proud to hold that title of being Supermom. And we have happy kids. I want them to stay happy.”
