Picture this: a beautiful Sunday evening, flanked by thunderstorms just a few hours before one of the most iconic experiences we’d ever have.
The air crackles with anticipation as fans file into Dickies Arena, ready for a trip down memory lane that promised to be anything but ordinary. We’re talking about Missy Elliott’s ‘Out of This World’ tour, folks – and let me tell you, it lived up to its name and then some.
From the moment we stepped into the arena, it was clear we were in for a treat as the concierge staff yelled for us to come grab an ice cold beer before we settled into our plush seats.
Nestled in the cultural district of Fort Worth, Dickies Arena transformed into a launchpad for a nostalgic voyage through the golden age of Hip-Hop and RnB. It was really an out-of-this-world experience, no doubt.
Missy has always been ahead of her time, and for the OG supporters, we knew not to dwell too much on what she was going to bring to the stage because the fact is, we expected her to blow our minds, and that’s exactly what she did.
We warmed up with heavy-hitting opening acts, including Timbaland, Busta Rhymes, and Ciara, who held their own, reminding us that live artistry should never be taken for granted.
First up, Timbaland, the beat-making wizard himself, warmed up our eardrums with the Greatest Hits mixtape that had us all feeling like we were back in our teenage bedrooms.
From Aaliyah to Beyoncé, and yes, even Ginuwine’s “Pony” (cue in the collective swoon), Timbaland reminded us why he’s been the backbone of so many chart-toppers.

Next, Busta Rhymes burst onto the stage like a supernova of energy. With his trademark rapid-fire flow and larger-than-life presence, Busta reminded us how things used to be!
In more colorful words, he said Real Hip-Hop was two mics and a DJ, and that meant his set illuminated the nuances of exactly that with his memorable New York charm and hilarious attitude.

Ciara, our resident princess of crunk&B, gave us iconic dance moves, her most beloved songs like “Goodies” and “1, 2 Step,” but she brought us right back to 2023 when she dropped “This Is How We Roll.”

She proved that even as a mom of four, she can demolish her set and get right back to family business backstage. And those dance moves? Let’s just say physics doesn’t apply to Ciara.

Now, Let’s Talk about Missy
The modern technological infrastructure for sound and lighting it took to create the galaxy Missy took us to was not lost on us.
When she said, “Out of this World,” it was not lip service. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee transported us from Earth into her own world, filled with vibrant colors, laser lights, lovable characters, talented dancers, and, of course, her iconic music catalog.
Missy’s first-ever tour as a headlining act gave us core memories we will hold forever for one and a half hours, starting with an ode to her 2019 EP “Iconology” and nodding to every era we have known her for and loved.
She pulled our attention to the sky, where she gave us “Gossip Folks” and then took it there with “She’s a B*tch,” wearing a huge iconic cape like only Missy can. Seriously, this woman exists in a dimension of her own creation, and we’re all just lucky to be living in her reality.
