Mo’Nique joined the project in 2022, which was once titled Demon House.
And Octavia Spencer almost got the role before Mo’Nique stepped in.
The film is inspired by the real-life story of Latoya Ammons, who claimed her kids were being possessed and attacked by demons in 2011.
The mom of three told authorities that she saw her children speaking in tongues, levitating, and walking up walls.
Ammons also claimed she once saw her seven-year-old son talking to an invisible boy in a closet.
When she asked what they were discussing, her son told her the invisible friend was describing how it felt to be killed.
Apparently, a “malevolent spirit” also threw the boy out of a bathroom and attacked Ammons’ daughter.
Two psychics visited the home and revealed over 200 demons were haunting the house.
The psychics were backed by official reports from a document of paranormal activity in the house–the psychologists stated on record that they saw Ammons’ young daughter walk “up the wall backward” and talk in “different voices.”
Even the local police chief admitted he was a believer after visiting the house and interviewing Ammons.
Creepy stuff.
