Let me have a truth moment right now. There was a point in my life when I would only deep condition my hair on Sunday without fail.
These days I deep condition on whatever day is convenient for me to do so as long as I do it at least once a week. With that said I know there are still some naturals who have wash day only on Sunday so why not share my favorite pre-poo deep conditioning recipe today.
This recipe is my favorite because it combines protein, humectants and cheap conditioners that I need to use up. All you need are the following ingredients
1. Honey – 3 tablespoons or as much as you would like
2. One egg – If you use two eggs the mix might be too runny but you can especially if you think your hair needs the protein.
3. Castor oil or olive oil – I choose the oil that I have on hand, which means you should choose your favorite oil to do this one.
4. Cheapie conditioner – Usually I will throw in some Strawberries and Cream V05 conditioner because for some reason I always have half bottles V05 lying around.
I will never understand why I would use half of my conditioner and not use the rest, but if you can repurpose your products then it’s all good.
Any conditioner will work so look through your cabinet for your half empty bottles and add it to your mix.
Section you’re hair so that when your add your deep conditioner you can cover every strand of hair. I would suggest wearing vinyl gloves, here is why.
Pin your hair up and cover with a plastic cap then sit under a dryer for 25-30 minutes or you can just wrap a towel around the plastic cap and chill for an hour or so.
This is a pre-shampoo treatment which will require that you shampoo your hair and condition again with regular conditioner.
