Megan Thee Stallion’s beau, Pardison “Pardi” Fontaine, released a statement regarding the inequality women face when speaking their truth as jury deliberations start in the Tory Lanez assault trial.
According to People, the rapper/songwriter took to Instagram Thursday (December 22) to share a powerful message concerning the challenges women, especially women of color, face in the legal system and court of public opinion.
“To any woman, especially ones of color that has suffered an injustice, I feel for you.. when you do find the courage to speak up.. it seems you will be ridiculed,” Pardi wrote.
“.. your credibility will [be] questioned .. your entire past will be held under a magnifying glass .. in an instant, you can go from defendant in the eyes of the public .. to anyone with a daughter, Sister, mother, niece or aunt.”
He continued, “I pray for their protection… I pray for their covering… I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.”
During her time in court, Megan told the jury that since the assault, she’s suffered from depression, which has badly affected her relationship with Pardi.
“It’s hard for your partner when you feel sad all the time,” she said, adding, “I feel disgusted, I feel dirty, my own partner is embarrassed. I can’t even be happy. I don’t want to talk to friends or family.”
She also said she wished she’d been killed because what she’s been and is going through is nothing but “torture.”
“This has messed up my whole life. How could I share my body with someone who could shoot me? I’m embarrassed. I feel disgusted. I feel dirty. I feel like I don’t want to be on this earth anymore. I wish Tory had shot and killed me if I knew I was going to go through this torture.”
Megan also expressed her frustrations with how the case played out, particularly among male artists.
“Every man in a position of power in the music industry has taken his side,” the Her rapper said, referring to the support Tory received since the assault.
“There is not a day that goes by where somebody is not calling me a liar or is not shaming me for being a grown woman and having sex. This whole story has not been about the shooting. It’s only been about who Tory is having sex with,” Megan continued.
Megan and Pardi met when working on Megan’s Savage remix (featuring Beyoncé), which garnered her two Grammy awards.
Then in February 2021, the award-winning star confirmed her romance with Mr. Fontaine during an Instagram Live session. “That’s my boo, and I really like him,” later adding, “I never said hot girls can’t have boyfriends.”
