Plies has filed a lawsuit accusing Glorilla and Megan Thee Stallion of committing copyright infringement.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ Wednesday (November 6), the rapper, real name Algernod Lanier Washington, alleges that Megan and Glorilla used elements of his 2008 track “Me & My Goons” to create “Wanna Be,” and a remix of the track featuring Cardi B.
Cardi is also named as a defendant in the lawsuit. Other defendants named in the suit include Megan’s Hot Girl Productions, Universal Music Group, Interscope, and Collective Music Group, as well as Soula Boy’s former imprint Collipark Productions.
Plies alleges Soulja Boy committed copyright infringement when he used elements of his track for his 2010 single “Pretty Boy Swag.”
Neither Soulja Boy nor Megan, Glorilla, and Cardi B have responded to the lawsuit.
However, producer LilJujuMadeDaBeat, who created the instrumental for “Wanna Be” and has worked closely with Megan, disputed Plies’ claims on social media.
LilJujuMadeDaBeat argued that “Wanna Be” samples Soulja Boy’s “My Dougie” from 2006, which, he claims, predates Plies’ 2008 track.
“‘My Dougie’ came out in 2006, while ‘Me & My Goons’ came out in 2008,” LilJujuMadeDaBeat stated. “Big E, the producer of ‘My Dougie,’ is credited on ‘Wanna Be,’ nullifying Plies’ claim.”
He also clarified that “Pretty Boy Swag” was a remake of “My Dougie” and pointed out that Soulja Boy appeared on the remix of “My Dougie.”
“Wanna Be,” which debuted in April as the second single from Glorilla’s mixtape, marks her first musical collaboration with Megan. According to Billboard, the track also samples Project Pat’s 2001 song, “Don’t Save Her.”
My Dougie came it in 2006, Me & My Goons came it in 2008. Big E the producer of “My Dougie” is credited on Wanna Be https://t.co/KzoSUQfEKW

For the Record Pretty Boy Swag is a remake of My Dougie as well. Soulja Boy is on the My Dougie Remix. Me & My Goons literally not even the single for that Plies album

I need yall to play these two beats back to back. Wanna Be samples Me & My Goons. Pretty Boy Swag is a Lil Wil sample. But the two beats are not the same. He doesn’t have a leg to stand on suing Soulja Boy but Wanna Be does sample Plies.
