Real Housewives of Atlanta Star Porsha Williams has scored major victory in her ongoing divorce proceedings with ex Simon Guobadia.
According to People, a Fulton County court sided with Williams, granting her motion to quash Guobadia’s subpoena and his request for a videotaped deposition of her bosses at True Entertainment, along with a motion for a protective order.
The judge also denied Guobadia’s emergency motions related to discovery and demanded he cover Williams’ attorney’s fees and litigation expenses.
The ruling also touched on the couple’s prenuptial agreement, which Guobadia has been trying to challenge.
According to court documents, Guobadia argued that Williams had failed to fully disclose her plans to continue her career in reality TV or other jobs, which he claimed would render their prenuptial agreement invalid.
The businessman also claimed that Williams had agreed to be a stay-at-home wife and mom at the time of their marriage. However, the judge found these claims to be without merit, noting that Guobadia knew the TV personality had a career in RHOA when they signed the prenup.
“Wife has been a reality TV celebrity for years, which was well known to Husband at the time of negotiating the Prenuptial Agreement, and Husband nevertheless married Wife with this knowledge,” the ruling stated.
Williams starred in Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta from seasons 5-13, leaving the show in September 2021, four months after announcing her engagement to Guobadia. She is set to return for the 16th season.
According to the documents, the primary purpose of the prenup, which the couple signed prior to their 2022 wedding, was to “avoid contested and expensive litigation, including the costly and potentially intrusive discovery process, if an Event of Dissolution occurs.”
The court noted that the prenup was carefully negotiated over a year, with both parties represented by skilled lawyers and full financial disclosures. As a result, the court found no grounds for claims of fraud, mistake, misrepresentation, or pressure.
It continued, “Essentially, the crux of Husband’s argument could have been explicitly contained within the four corners of the parties’ Prenuptial Agreement, and it was not.”
This is a major victory for the RHOA star, bringing her close to finalizing her divorce. Once the court officially upholds the prenuptial agreement, Williams will receive her legal expenses from Guobadia and walk away as a single woman.
Williams first filed for divorce from the entrepreneur in February, 15 months after their union. At the time, the TV personality cited “irrevocable differences” as the reason for the split.
The couple’s legal disputes started over disagreements about the validity of their prenup. They also clashed over who would live in their marital home and Williams’ financial situation, especially in light of her new NBC Universal deal.
In the midst of the legal battle, Williams accused Guobadia of making “false statements and allegations” that were “intentionally misrepresenting the reality of the situation.”
