We have been talking about Summer hair growth a lot this year because I have been trying to get you all on board with taking full advantage of the fact that our hair grows faster in the Spring/Summer.
The reason we have better growth is simply that blood flow is more efficient during the warmer months and nutrients are transmitted to the hair follicles faster causing maximum growth potential.
This means not only should we be very focused on nutrition but we have to focus on nurturing our strands as well. In this post, I want to share an amazing pre-poo routine that is directly in line with your Summer growth goals and that requires only one product!
Hands down one of my favorite masks to use for a serious pre-poo and healthy hair treatment is the Alikay Naturals Avocado Cream Moisture Repair Mask because the key ingredients are Aloe Vera, Peppermint Oil, Avocado oil and Burdock Root! The formula is pure no-nonsense nourishment for the strands and encourages growth as well.
How to Pre-Poo For Best Results
Typically I pre-poo weekly or after a day when my hair feels very dry and way too brittle for any sort of manipulation. For best results follow these steps.
1. Spray your entire head with water to make your hair easy to separate
2. Separate the hair into 4-6 workable sections without attempting any detangling. Just clip away the sections.
3. Apply the Alikay Naturals Avocado Cream Moisture Repair Mask to the first section using just your fingers and now start to finger detangle after saturating the hair with the product.
4. Repeat step 3 for all sections of your hair.
5. Cover with a plastic cap
Now you have a choice, if you do this at night like I do then you can cover the cap with your microfiber towel to secure it, cover that with a bonnet and head to bed. Pre-pooing over night works like magic for dry hair and all you have to do is just shampoo and re condition in the morning.
Why Pre-pooing helps you to retain more length
Frankly, any sort of deep conditioning helps you to maintain the quality of your hair strand leading to better retention but I particularly like pre pooing because it is like giving your hair its first dose of nourishment before you do anything else.
Think about it like this, when you wake up in the morning, one of the first things you should drink is water with a splash of lemon. The mixture wakes up your cells and gives your body a perfect alkaline foundation to start your day.
It is the same with your pre-poo, your hair gets nourished immediately before you do anything else so the product you choose is of utmost importance.
About the product
I have been using Alikay Naturals for years but just recently started using this Avocado Cream Moisture Repairing Hair Mask because of how nourishing avocados have always been to my hair.
If you have fine hair or if your hair is in need of both protein and moisture I would encourage you to use products that give you the best of both worlds.
Avocados are moisturizing and contain beta-carotene, vitamins B, C, E and essential fats that provide vital nutrients to provide maximum hair strength, moisture, and shine.
The mask makes your hair soft and strong and if you continue to use it regularly like I do you will not need anything else.
Avocado Oil: Penetrates hair cortex to lubricate hair and improve elasticity to reduce breakage, improves detangling, and moisturizes dry scalp.
Peppermint Oil: Stimulates the hair follicles to promote healthier hair growth. It also soothes scalp irritation and inflammation.
Burdock Root: Reduces hair loss and relieves scalp irritation. It is rich in fatty acids that improve blood circulation to hair follicles and roots.
We are in the middle of the Summer season and as things start to wind down we want to be as focused as we can, remaining diligent with our hair routines. Summer growth is real yall and it is not too late to take full advantage.
The cool thing is after all this pre-pooing you will develop a great habit with an awesome product for the upcoming Fall season when dry hair starts to rear its ugly head.
