Quincy Jones’ cause of death has been confirmed.
The legendary music producer died of pancreatic cancer; the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health revealed.
TMZ obtained Jones’ death certificate, which reportedly did not list any other factors that contributed to the 28-time Grammy winner’s passing.
It’s not known how long he had been battling cancer.
Jones died on November 3 at his Be-Air home. He was 91.
His publicist, Arnold Robinson confirmed the news.
“Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing,” Robinson said in a statement.
“And although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him.”
“He is truly one of a kind and we will miss him dearly; we take comfort and immense pride in knowing that the love and joy, that were the essence of his being, was shared with the world through all that he created,” he continued.
“Through his music and his boundless love, Quincy Jones’ heart will beat for eternity.”
Jones – who produced Michael Jackson’s Thriller and Off the Wall album, and collaborated with musical legends Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, and Ella Fitzgerald – was laid to rest in a private funeral on November 10.
All of his kids – Jolie, 71; Rachel, 61; Martina, 58; Quincy III, 55; Kidada, 50; Rashida, 48; and Kenya, 31 – along with the producer’s brother and two sisters attended the ceremony, a statement from the family said.
His loved ones added that they were “enormously grateful for the outpouring of condolences and tributes from his friends and fans from around the world,” adding that a second larger ceremony is being planned for the public to attend.

Jones’ daughter actress Rashida paid tribute to her late dad in an emotional Instagram post on November 7, describing him as “a giant. An icon. A culture shifter. A genius.”
“I was fortunate enough to experience this love in close proximity,” she wrote. “I’ll miss his hugs and kisses and unconditional devotion and advice. Daddy, it is an honor to be your daughter. Your love lives forever.”
