Quinta Brunson is calling it quits on her marriage.
The Abbott Elementary star, 35, filed a petition for divorce from her husband, Kevin Jay Anik, on Wednesday (March 19), according to court documents obtained by People.
Brunson listed their date of separation as “TBD” and cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.
She also indicated that the pair “entered a postnuptial agreement that governs the division of their property” and requested that each party be responsible for their own attorney’s fees.
Anik and Brunson reportedly dated for several years before tying the knot in October 2021, though both have been extremely tight-lipped about their relationship.
The actress revealed in her 2022 memoir, She Memes Well, that she and Anik started dating after meeting at a friend’s birthday party.

She never announced the exact date they got engaged, but she confirmed it with an Instagram post showing off her ring in 2020, captioning the selfie, “More good news.”
Then, in a November 2022 interview, Brunson said, “To be 100 percent fully me requires a lot of stuff that a lot of men do not have time for,” before adding that she “realized there’s no dimming me” after unsuccessful past relationships.
She also thanked Anik after winning an Emmy Award in 2022, which People described as their first public confirmation of their marriage.
“In case I am not back up here again, I have to thank my mom, dad, brothers, and sisters, my cousins … my wonderful husband because he’s the most supportive man I’ve ever known, and my incredible cast and show for helping me to make this show and make the pilot,” she said during her historic win for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series at the annual ceremony.
Brunson mentioned her husband again during her 2023 Golden Globes win, saying:
, “I didn’t prepare anything because I just didn’t think … Oh god. I love my mom, my dad, my sisters, my brothers, my entire family so much. I love my husband. I’m so happy. I love my cast. Oh, I love Abbott Elementary. Thank you so much.”
Before their breakup, Brunson spoke about having Anik’s support as Abbott Elementary rose to success.
“I mean, a partner during all of this, you can’t buy that kind of support,” she said. “Someone willing to go through what it takes to make Abbott and be a part of Abbott, it’s priceless. I don’t know what to say. I’m so grateful.”
She jokingly added, “I feel like I should have did the thank you up there, but I don’t know, I was overwhelmed y’all!”
