Janet Jackson’s recent faux pas, in which she claimed that Democratic Presidential candidate Kamala Harris isn’t Black and has a white father, has left many wondering how and why the superstar would confidently spew such misinformation—and whether her brother, Randy Jackson, who also serves as her manager, might be influencing her statements.
For some, Randy Jackson stands out as the prime suspect because since taking on the role of Janet’s manager in 2016, Randy has reportedly asserted “control” over the megastar’s personal and professional decisions.
“[Randy’s] sabotaging her legacy because he’s not savvy. She’s giving Randy control, and no one understands how he’s managing her, when he’s never had a career. She pays for everything,” sources close to the Jacksons’ camp told Page Six in an exclusive interview.
They further claimed that Janet hangs on to everything Randy—a rumored Trump supporter and conspiracy theorist—tells her.
“Janet’s bubble is small, and she listens to Randy. She does peddle in conspiracy theories,” they added.
Randy’s official Instagram offers eyebrow-raising clues. His feed includes a clip of Kanye West’s 2023 interview with Tucker Carlson on FOX and a selfie with Robert Kennedy Jr.—both known for pushing conspiracy theories and backing former President Donald Trump.
The Jacksons’ legend also follows prominent right-wing figures like Candace Owens and Trump himself.
“How can she sing about ‘Rhythm Nation’ and make comments like that?” another insider told Page Six. “It doesn’t even sound like her. She’s so methodical. I don’t know what made her do this.”
They went on to reveal that Janet, who currently lives in London, doesn’t watch the news anymore and lives in a bubble—a claim that might hold some weight considering the award-winning star only learned about Hot Cheetos in 2018.
Another source expressed concern that if Randy continues to hold the reins, the fallout from Janet’s remarks could be even more damaging than the infamous “Nipplegate” incident after her Super Bowl performance two decades ago.
Neither Janet nor Randy have commented on the matter following the recent loss of their brother Tito Jackson, who passed away on September 15. But while they choose to “let things blow over,” folks on X/Twitter are speaking out against the Jackson siblings.

Janet recently opened up about her brother Randy’s role as her manager and explained that he’s the reason she hasn’t released any new music. The “Control” singer had announced her Black Diamond album and tour before the COVID pandemic, but the project never saw the light of day.
“I feel so badly about that … I have recorded a lot of music. A lot of music that’s just sitting on the shelf. I went to my brother [Randy] … and I think, I think he’s just waiting for the opportune time,” she said.
But now sources claim she doesn’t have enough material for a full album and hasn’t recorded anything new since before the pandemic.
“I don’t know why she keeps promising new music because there is none—at least not enough for a full album,” a source alleged.
