For some reason, Makeup Forever thought it was wise to post a very shady post today taking a direct swipe at the Fenty beauty line.
This is what they said:
40 shades is nothing new to us -?- Since 2015, the #ultraHDfoundation released 40 shades for everyone’s unique skin tone understanding the difference between red and yellow undertones. With expertise, time and passion – we shall continue to develop and improve our products for pros, for you, for everyone. . .
Ok Girl! (insert eye roll emoji here)
Of course, the internet decided to send MUFE a direct message about how they felt about their statement under their post on Instagram, including Rihanna.
One lady said:
Your mad because Rihanna did it better-kept people with different skin tones and skin conditions in mind and she makes makeup for what people need not what companies like you think that people would be interested in or you guys think lighter skin tones are more beautiful BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL ??and her brand is selling out like crazy around the WORLD so instead of throwing shade at somebody be happy for them not shady ? @makeupforeverofficial
Another said:
That Salty caption was not needed!! Post your picture and Go! #40shadesofgrey Ashyyy
And then Rihanna herself said:
In my opinion, Rihanna could have just let it go because there were so many comments today that expressed how petty MUFE was being it was almost a little crazy. However apart from that, I think the bigger message is, there is room for all of us, MUFE is used by many women of color and as such the shady post was absolutely unnecessary.
However apart from that, I think the bigger message is, there is room for all of us, MUFE is used by many women of color and as such the shady post was absolutely unnecessary and possibly done on purpose.
I have a theory though, and let me know if you agree! This might just be a marketing move for the makeup giant!
Remember back in the day when no-name rappers would create ‘beef’ with hot rappers by creating a dis track just hoping they would respond? If the rapper responded and if people were upset enough then his name and music would be everywhere. Oldest trick in the book!
It will be interesting to see how this ends, for now, the post remains intact and MUFE is on the tips of everyone’s tongue.
