Simon Guobadia has filed a federal lawsuit against his estranged wife, Porsha Williams, accusing her of making “false and defamatory” comments about his private life—specifically, implying that he suffers from “erectile dysfunction.”
The lawsuit, filed Thursday, November 21, argues that Porsha’s remarks were presented as fact, causing significant damage to Simon’s reputation.
“[Porsha’s] statements, presented as factual, have caused significant harm to [Simon’s] personal and professional reputation, subjected him to public ridicule, and inflicted severe emotional distress,” Simon’s attorney said in a statement.
Simon, 60, married Porsha, 43, in 2022, but the couple separated in early 2024.
The lawsuit claims their relationship became strained when Porsha began making negative, misleading statements about Simon on social media, using her platform to harm his reputation.
The lawsuit specifically points to a series of Instagram posts on July 9, where the 43-year-old media personality discussed erectile dysfunction.
“These posts were intentionally crafted to imply that [Simon] suffers from this condition, casting him in a negative and humiliating light,” Simon’s attorney said.
The posts, which were tagged with #MensHealthAwareness, “appeared to give the posts a tone of health awareness,” the lawyer explained, but the timing and context made it clear they were aimed directly at Simon.
“The nature, timing, and context of these posts, amidst the couple’s public separation, led reasonable viewers to infer that Defendant’s statements were referring to Plaintiff – because they were,” the lawyer continued.
Simon claims these statements quickly gained traction in the media.
His attorney pointed out, “[Porsha’s] postings were presented in a factual manner, implying a specific diagnosis of ED regarding [Simon] and were clearly intended to cast him in a negative, humiliating light.”
He continued, “As a former spouse, [Porsha’s] statements were perceived by the public as having legitimacy and insider knowledge regarding [Simon’s] health, enhancing the likelihood that the public would believe these statements were true.”
Simon is adamant.
“[Porsha’s] statements were false; [Simon] does not have ED and has never suffered from or been diagnosed with this condition.” He also accused his estranged wife of making these claims either knowingly or without care for the truth.
Simon’s attorney went further, calling Porsha’s actions “extreme, outrageous, and intended to provoke and inflict emotional distress,” adding that the businessman has suffered emotional distress and personal anguish due to the statements made by Porsha.
“[Porsha’s] allegations not only targeted [Simon’s] physical and emotional integrity but also struck at the core of his reputation as a capable and respected entrepreneur and philanthropist.”
“The direct and disparaging nature of these statements leaves no doubt that they constitute defamation per se, as their content is inherently damaging and injurious to [Simon’s] personal and professional reputation.”
Simon is now demanding unspecified damages from the TV personality.
As mentioned, Porsha and Simon married in a lavish Nigerian ceremony in November 2022, followed by a second American wedding days later.
However, their marriage was short-lived, with the reality TV star filing for divorce in February 2024 – sparking a heated exchange of accusations between the former couple in the media.
Porsha has yet to comment on the lawsuit.
