News broke on Sunday that the Wendy Williams Show will officially end in June and the “Sherri Shepard Show” will start in the Fall.
In an exclusive with B.Scott, sources close to production have shared:
“The producers informed everyone that the [Wendy Show] was being canceled at the end of June. Then in the next breath, they hired everyone to work on the new Sherri show.”
Production sources also shared that Wendy has been ‘checked out’ for quite some time and had become increasingly difficult to work with prior to her medical leave.
“[Wendy] had become somewhat unbearable, having tantrums and throwing things at people. Basically, the consensus among the crew is that she didn’t wanna be there anymore. Her illnesses may have exacerbated that feeling.”
We shared earlier this week Wendy shared a video to her personal Instagram account of herself in good spirits, walking on the beach and talking with her son Kevin.
In that video, she shared she was optimistic about returning to her show stronger than ever.
Social media reacted to the news, many sharing how important her legacy is and that she should possibly start a podcast.
If Wendy is going off the air, I’ll say this… I hope her health is together or that she gets better. I don’t think she cares about the show that much anyway. Because now that they’re handing out 100M dollar podcast deals… who’d be better than an unfiltered Wendy Williams?! pic.twitter.com/YToR9IIcPx

Others are not able to accept the news.
I still can’t process that the Wendy Williams show is Ending. Truly the end of messy Daytime TV Era pic.twitter.com/hk53enrQbI

The fact is no one can or will do daytime like Wendy Williams
An end of an era. 15 years strong is no small feat. Unfiltered, raw, real, authentic, unapologetic and carried the show simply off her brand which was gossip. No one can replace her. I wish her well with her health pic.twitter.com/etpFZrSrkp

Nobody can convince me that any replacement will possess the same energy on set as Wendy Williams. There is no other, and will be no other show like it on daytime television. Truly sad to see it end. pic.twitter.com/JRHS8IFjz1

No diss to Sheri Shepard, it’s just that she’s not Wendy Williams.

Y’all may think of her as just a meme queen but i really watched every episode of the Wendy Williams show like everyday for years. Wendy literally makes me laugh and she gives me such joy to watch so these rumours are kinda devastating to hear. I followed her and her journey. pic.twitter.com/3YqHBOLKBW

One thing for sure, Wendy Williams showed up as herself every single day, take it or leave it, love it or hate it. We hope she gets healthy and takes on this new chapter with the same tenacity.
