Soulja Boy, the rapper and connoisseur of catchy tunes, recently revealed his admiration for a rising star.
According to Complex, Soulja didn’t hesitate to mention the Bronx native, Ice Spice, when asked about his favorite rapper.
Soulja modestly claimed to have been in contact with her before her meteoric rise to fame.
“I like Ice Spice, I ain’t gonna cap. They gonna be like, ‘He picked a girl,’ but yeah, she new, she popping, I like what she doing. On gang, I found out about her before she got popping off.”
Do Soulja Boy And Ice Spice Really Know Each Other?
Soulja expressed his admiration for those underdogs who go from flying under the radar to soaring high in the musical stratosphere.
He was apparently thrilled to see Spice’s success.
“I was talking to her and her shit just took off. I like seeing shit like that, like a muthafucka just be under the radar and then just take off. I like seeing shit like that.”
Naturally, Soulja’s interviewer Bootleg Kev asked the million-dollar question: Would he consider collaborating with the hot new rapper?
Soulja then revealed that the two had already discussed making music together.
“Hell yeah! We already talked. I be talking to her. Shout out to Ice Spice, she cool. I like what she doing, for sure.”
It’s no surprise that Ice Spice caught the rapper’s attention, given her monumental success in 2022.
With multiple chart-topping hits and an explosive start to this year, the female rapper released her highly anticipated debut EP in January.
As her stardom grew, major record labels became captivated by her talent, leading her to sign with Capitol Records and 10K projects.
According to Zach Friedman, co-president of 10K, Spice holds an enviable position in the industry.
At just 23, she owns her masters and publishing rights but also enjoys complete creative control over her music.
In an era where artists often find themselves at the mercy of labels, the female rapper remains the captain of her own ship.
With Ice Spice making waves in the music industry, it’s safe to say that their potential collaboration would be anything but bland.
